February 29 (Leap Day) - Something I am listening To

Munchkin is working on Recorder Karate so we are listening to a lot of Old McDonald, Amazing Grace and Oh When the Saints. :)

February 28, 2012 - Money

My family likes to travel but don't have a ton extra to spend on souvenirs. One fun souvenir my kiddos love to get are squashed pennies. How can you beat $.51? You can also spend $5 and pick up a book to put all of the squashed pennies in. So far we have 1 for both kids to share and will eventually have to get another but we are good for the moment. :)

February 23, 2012 - My Shoes

These are my most used shoes. I tend to wear them until they are absolutely dead. The newest pairs are the brown boots and the black flats. The black boots are about 4 years old, the heels 3, and both pairs of tennis shoes are at least 2 years old. I despise buying expensive shoes so they are bought on sale and have to last forever!

Even though I teach classes on an actual campus, this is where I grade papers. On my couch, using my laptop. :)

February 21, 2012 - A Favorite Photo of Me

This has always been one of my favorite photos that I am actually in. This was a day spent with my then boyfriend/future husband and our buddy Matt and his then girlfriend. We spent the day at Newport Beach just relaxing and having a great time and it was topped off with this beautiful sunset.

February 20, 2012 - Handwriting

This is actually a photo from March of 2010. My sweet husband took our kiddos to Chickfila where they decorated pillowcases. Both of them were able to practice some handwriting. :)

Something I hate to do is find brown recluse spiders in my house.... I suppose there is no other explanation needed...

February 18, 2012 - Drink

Last night was Spam and Anchovies Cooking Club. This was one of the wine selections. When (Melissa, this one is for you) a night away from the kids never seemed so legit this is the wine for you! :) I don't drink red wine because it gives me a migraine but my cooking buddies seemed to enjoy it. :)

February 17, 2012 - Time

Just a moment in time when it is me, by myself in my car, waiting on my kiddos to get out of school. A moment of anticipation for fun break time before diving into homework and dinner prep.

February 16, 2012 - Something New

Today we were in a section of town that we don't get to all that often. Since we were there we decided to go to Rose Pepper Cantina. My hubs had been there before but I had not so it was a perfect subject for something new. It was fantastic. They brought three types of salsa (new to me), I had avocado fries (new to me) and flautas that were not spicy (new to me). It was a new experience that is definitely worth repeating in the future.

February 15, 2012 - Phone

I really wanted to take a photo of a pay phone today, or even a pay phone booth. However, I couldn't find one anywhere! I even asked at Target if they had a pay phone. They were happy to let me use the customer service phone but alas, no pay phone. So, here is Target's attempt at a retro phone complete with messed up cardboard docking station example.

February 14, 2012 - Heart

Since it is Valentine's Day there was no shortage of hearts to shoot. One of my students brought cupcakes with heart sprinkles. One student brought chocolate and one student brought heart shaped cookies. For dessert tonight my hubs helped me make heart shaped funnel cake. It has been a day of hearts! :)

I know, I know. This is not technically a closet but it is the doorway to my basement. When you live in a house that is 94 years old you have to get a little creative with storage.

February 7, 2012 - Button

My little guy struggles with buttoning his own shirt due to fine motor issues. Even though it is hard he still tries every time he puts on a button down shirt. :)

Our dinner tonight consisted of cracker coated pork chops, yellow squash with onions and garlic, and garlic mashed potatoes. I loved the pork chop but wasn't such a fan of the potatoes.

February 4, 2012 - Stranger

Today's February challenge was to take a photo of a stranger. I posted in my neighborhood forum but no one was able to meet up. We ended up at Fuji for lunch and since our chef was a stranger he fit the bill. He put on a pretty good show and we had a delicious meal! :)

February 3, 2012 - Hands

The top hands are the hands of the three loves of my life. Trying to get this photo was hard. Arms got tired, kids got cranky but in the end I think it turned out cute! :)

The bottom hands are the kids in my daughters class. They were more than happy to pose for a quick shot of their hands...anything to get away from the lunch room table and not get in trouble. ;)

February 2, 2012 - Words

Day 2 of the February Challenge focused on words. I thought  lot about what I would post today. I went to Ross and could have posted that, drove past road signs I see every day and read part of a novel. However, these two sets of words are part of my every day life. Cookbooks and the Bible. What better way to cover words in this challenge than sharing the ones that mean the most to me. :) I know my little Youversion Bible app is nontraditional but it fits in my pocket and I always have it with me!

February 1, 2012 - February Challenge and My View

June posted the photo above for a February challenge and I decided I would take it on. I am wondering if I can take a good picture of each area this month.

As for now here is my first photo. This was my view during homework time. My sweet boy was sound asleep on top of his worksheets. :) We had just been at the store so there are paper towels behind him and the bribes..I mean rewards for first time obedience in front of him. :)
